IT'S ONLY BEEN THREE WEEKS...

ESTA HISTORIA TRANSCURRIO REALMENTE EN CASTELLANO [O SEA, NO SE CREAN QUE TATO HABLA TANTO EN INGLES, PERO ES SOBRE ESE TEMA ANYHOW] PERO FOR THE BENEFIT OF MY MONOenglishLINGUAL FRIENDS, HERE IT IS IN ENGLISH ONLY!!!!!!!!! : )

Today JAVIER TATO says to me “mom, I may be the best student in the English class... Because it s been only three weeks and I already learned ALL the stuff they ve taught me!” [which is true. Note he s not bragging but just telling me the fact that he s learned everything pretty fast and he knows it, that s it].

So I said “you know what Tato? In a couple of years, you and I will do what I used to do with Abuelita Ana when I was a kiddo and a teenager... Which is to speak English whenever we wish!” [my mom and I used to speak English sometimes or code switch for certain topics. She got her MA in the USA and she was super fluent in English, French and of course Spanish].

And Tato says “wow, that d be great, mom! Yes, I know all the songs. For example... [and he starts singing them all, by heart, pretty good pronunciation, stuff like [melody goes like a popular song of ours here] “what s the wheather like today, what s the wheather like today, today is sunny, today is sunny, today is a sunny day!”

Anyhow, it s moving to see him really progressing that fast, understanding a lot of what he says, and starting to get it that being bilingual may be a gift. He s five, remember.

Very, very young, little angel.
